100% serious, fruit worms aren't parasites or something, it's just larvae of fruit flies, which feed on fruit specifically and never have any contact with nasty things like rotten meat, feces, etc. And as they're not parasites and not adapted to live inside the animals, they're getting dissolved in our stomach acid literally in seconds.

You are not going to trick me into enjoying eating worms.

Well, you don't have to enjoy it.. You're already eating them.

Slimy, yet satisfying.

1

u/Acceptable_Cut_7545 Aug 06 '24

This is it. This is the answer to how we trick ourselves into being okay with eating worms.

3

u/Kel-Varnsen85 Aug 05 '24

Nah, my fruit isn't organic, so it has pesticides. No worms

2

u/Anxious-Durian1773 Aug 05 '24

Bold of you to think I eat fruit.

2

u/DonutBill66 Aug 06 '24

I'm not eating food or drinking liquid ever again.

2

u/craziedave Aug 06 '24

I’m gonna go starve to death now k bye

u/JunkieMunkieCircus Aug 05 '24

You don't have to enjoy the tummy worms, just accept them into you.

2

u/IloveElsaofArendelle Aug 05 '24

Come on, be a Klingon and get your Gagh 😄

2

u/ladyinchworm Aug 05 '24

Would you enjoy it more if you called them maggots instead of worms?

1

u/Skytraffic540 Aug 05 '24

You’ll eat the worms? And you’ll like it. -but I don’t want to..

1

u/JerseyEnt Aug 06 '24

Found the guy who works for Big Worm

1

u/LadyDeMuerte Aug 06 '24

Well nobody said you had to enjoy it 🤷🏻‍♀️

47

u/Baezil Aug 05 '24

This actually made me feel better, thank you.

u/No_Care6935 Aug 05 '24 edited Aug 05 '24

Thank you now I can continue to eat them

7

u/radiantcabbage Aug 05 '24

yea its not wrong, problem is they ofc break down/shit in the fruit which accelerates spoilage. this does support more harmful pathogens that can make you sick, just got to make sure theyre still fresh

also why id rather buy commercial and freeze my berries, dont really have the stomach for worm charming

3

u/allisonmaybe Aug 05 '24

Cool so if I get fruit flies I can rest assured 100% I ate the worms.

2

u/SnacksandViolets Aug 05 '24

And are they so delicate they die in the freezer like when fish are flash frozen? 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

10

u/CMDR_kamikazze Aug 05 '24

Absolutely sure about it, they definitely can't stand temperatures such low like in the freezer. I even doubt they can survive just a regular fridge.

6

u/Seicair Interested Aug 05 '24

Adult fruit flies can’t either. In college bio we euthanized our experimental fruit flies by taking them outside for a few minutes. (-15°C at the end of the semester).

2

u/Radiant_Dog1937 Aug 05 '24

You're destroying vegan confidence in fruit right now.

1

u/ogclobyy Aug 05 '24

Why am I aroused

1

u/xander144 Aug 05 '24

Thanks capt’n o7

1

u/sof49er Aug 05 '24

What's the ratio of vinegar to water to make this happen?

4

u/CMDR_kamikazze Aug 05 '24

You mean to dissolve the fruit worms completely? Not sure about vinegar, the ratio might be too harsh for berries to be edible after that. I never soak berries in vinegar solution like OP does, just wash well enough with warm water.

1

u/what2doinwater Aug 05 '24

so fly caviar?

1

u/CMDR_kamikazze Aug 05 '24

Yep, a bit past the caviar stage tho, lol

1

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '24

Not adapted yet...

1

u/SelectedMax Aug 06 '24

Nice try, fruit worm

1

u/miicrowaave Aug 06 '24

Technically they are parasites then, just not to us.

1

u/streetzzahead Aug 06 '24

poor little guys :(

1

u/[deleted] Aug 06 '24

Now I kinda feel bad imagining the little worm guys safe inside the placental raspberry. The ones that don't get crushed and chewed end up having hot acid pour in through the collapsing walls of their sanctum. They are already dead, but still they writhe on etched nerves until dissolved into nothingness

1

u/Viva_la_Ferenginar Aug 06 '24

You make them sound cute and it's kinda working. 🥹
