Sage dropping this harsh fucking burn in response to that made that entire interaction even funnier:

"I find you repulsive in a way that is difficult to quantify. And I'm fucking amazing at quantifying, so..."

I know it’s a diss to put him in place but it signals to me that she actually likes him because having a crush is anything but logical.

Ahe is obviously attracted to him. And she hates herself and him for it, which is why she can't really quanitify it.

I think she likes him because he is probably the dumbest motherfucker in the Seven. So lobotomizing herself on a regular basis means she wants a partner that can be equally as dumb as she is.

I'm a neurotic as hell overthinker especially about social interactions. Not especially smart just put way more energy into reading into things I probably shouldn't.

I like kinda dumb people, I'm friends with them. they are predictable and mostly honest to a fault. I don't have to do the shitty anxiety induced over thinking trying to work them out and catch on to white lies and stuff.

Could be similar for sage even non brain mashed. The deep doesn't really have hidden agendas or unpredictable motives. He just wants to be in the Seven, fuck aquatic animals and be liked.

I like this theory, but I think it has a hole. If she took more of a liking to him after her brain regenerated it would seem more likely to me, but she seemingly hates The Deep when she’s smart. It’s only when she knows she’s going to dumb herself down that she makes up with him and does things on his level.

I do think the idea that she feels safe with him though. The only thing he will do to hurt her will be on Homelander’s orders. Other than that, he is harmless.

But she always dumbs herself down, it’s not something new to her. She listened to his request for the pickle bs and even ordered it just for him and enticed him to poke her brain out with the ray j and anal thing even though she’s perfectly capable of lobotomising herself as we saw the first time 😭
