The state of Missouri has executed Marcellus Williams, despite the prosecution asking for a stay due to him potentially being innocent.

Correct, a finding of “actual innocence” rather than just “not guilty”

Ok but if he’s “not guilty” why give him life? I understand there’s a legal difference between not guilty and innocent. But if he didn’t do or there’s potential evidence that he didn’t this should’ve never happened. It’s fk’d up either way.

The case that I’m referencing the court had ordered his release after the overturning of the conviction with the finding of actual innocence. The state AG took it to the state Supreme Court for a stay while he was being processed out. He was eventually released but it took a while.
