This is just embarassing Xbox

I bought a $666 CAD xbox series x, and then bought minecraft, I went to play with my family and it requires a subscription to play online, after I have spent $700 to play. The cheapest subscription is $12 a month for xbox live just to play online. Thats so greasy. Just milking every dime. Anyone agree? Disagree?

More specifically. Why is it only xbox, not iPad or Pc who has to pay to play locally, anything for a dollar, I have definitely lost respect for them. Just to use the xbox online, i have to pay AT LEAST $12 a month.

Edit: thank you for the responses, there are good points. I do apoligize for the bluntness and being inconsiderate, i was disappointed to have to pay more even after $700, but still, thank you guys.

Disagree.

You can play it offline if you want.

Online features require servers.

Servers cost money.

They also require maintenance. Which also costs money.

Why do you think all that should be free?

I've paid for and run my own servers for MC, on top of the normal costs, just to get my own servers.

I've also seen people setup and pay for servers in order to make money, by selling in game benefits.

If anyone is milking it's the paid server community. Not MS.

Just google a server like PixelBlock, look what people are paying on there. Still think MS is the problem? I don't.

If anything Java/MC servers with pay to win are the milkers.

Also I do think Microsoft is the problem? I need to pay for xbox live just to play on a world that ipads and pcs can play on together for free? Thats 100% microsoft, or at least xbox, which is owned by microsoft.

Edit: I have to pay $12 just to play online on the xbox at all. Paying $700 doesn’t include playing online on any game?

Microsoft and Sony sell their consoles at a loss, if you want to play on servers pay the premium and get a pc. The only reason they’re so cheap in comparison to PCs is because they know they’ll make their money off Xbox/PlayStation Live.

Ah I see. I just feel like you could get a decent pc for $700, and I wouldn’t have to pay $12-20 a month to play with your friends.

Yeah I agree, I only have an xbox because my friends aren’t very tech literate so I just eat the $200 or whatever it is a year.
