While that is true, it's also important not to lose sight of the fact that this specific instance was particularly horrific, because this wasn't anywhere near certainty. There's a reason the victim's family was part of the group trying to stop the execution. Everything about this case screams out that politicians pushed for him to be executed not because they thought it was the right thing to do in his case, but because they wanted to win an ideological victory.

Everything you said is correct, I was just making a more generalized statement about the death penalty’s supporters. It wasn’t meant to detract from this situation, it was a response to this:

That’s the thing tho, no such thing as being 100%. Hence why we should abolish the death penalty.

My comment was a reply to another that was already a few replies deep, I was continuing that conversation. Given the context I didn’t think it needed to be reiterated, and I honestly have no idea how I even would have appropriately changed my original comment to satisfy that requirement to begin with?

Yeah, fair enough. Sorry, it's easy to read everything on the internet as starting with "You are wrong because..." but that wasn't my intention at all. Apologies if it came across as arguing against you.

No worries, sorry if my response was standoffish. Clearly we’re on the same side here!
