Announcement Updates about the current situation in Lebanon

Good Morning Everyone, Hope all of you and your families are safe.

Our country had been through a tough time, over 600 Lebanese citizens had killed and over 3/4 of them are innocent civilians in their homes, thereā€™s an instances of entire families being wiped out from the civil registry. This amount of death happened in less than 24 hours.

Much of Appreciation for doctors, nurses, medics, firefighters, and many Red cross and NGOs volunteers who are staying behind and being our first line of defense against this aggression in cooperation with Lebanese security forces who had been doing itā€™s best in evacuating and supporting people in every region.

Our country is under attack by a criminal regime thatā€™s a reflection of an ideology thatā€™s built on Supremacism, apartheid, ethnic cleansing, massacres, genocides, land grab, torture, and rape. Along with violating the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Law of Wars, defying every UN resolution to stop its criminal and expansionist activities. In the recent months, the government of that regime had been publicly stating that the starvation and carpet bombing should be considered legitimate acts of wars, as well discussing the ā€œright to rapeā€ of prisoners.

Any user thatā€™s incite sectarianism or violence, encourages or justifies the massacring or causing sufferings on civilians, declaring support to a criminal and genocidal political ideologies, or try to ridicule the well documented actions of state terrorism against civilians will be banned from this sub. Reddit is a huge place and there are a lot of other subreddits you can share your opinions in.

We would also like to share the thoughts of most Lebanese right now, summarized by what the.political.psychologist posted recently:

At the same time, Hezbollah has lost its deterrence and can no longer claim to protect anyone or anything. We acknowledge that some Hezbollah supporters are deeply invested that they can't see this reality. Iran, Syria and others are keeping Hezbollah on a tight leash for their own personal gain. Hezbollah does not fit within the framework of a functioning state. Expecting the government to take a stance today, when it has been systematically crippled for decades is naive and pointless. We can't pick and choose when to involve a government that we undermined overselves. Hezbollah has been systemically destroying anyone opposing them through death since 2005. This is the result of ruling Lebanon through their weapons.

Many will say that now is not the time to talk about Hezbollah mistakes given that people are dying. It's precisely because people are dying that we must speak up about why they are losing their lives and who is responsible. We can not under the guise of unity, forget that for months, we warned against a war we could not handle, and we were silenced by those in bunkers who thought they knew better. We mourn the loss of every Lebanese life, and for that reason, we hold Hezbollah and Israel accountable.

No one can ever erase the hundreds of crimes committed by Israel, and that's not up for debate. The real conversation isn't about whether Israel's accounts can be justified, they can't, rather it's about why Hezbollah shouldn't be glorified or absolved under the banner of resistance.

Thereā€™s been a rise of trolls in this sub here, and weā€™re doing our best to deal with that. Help us by report all those who violates both reddit and r/Lebanon rules.

About political parties? Screw them all, every one of them since decades ultimately to led to the failure of the Lebanese State, allowing all our neighbors and multiple regional countries to abuse us and violate our sovereignty on daily basis.

May Lebanon rise from this safe. Lebanon the country and it's people without political parties or "resistances".

Other Tricked into eating pork as a Muslim

Post image
0 Upvotes

Around two days ago I went to Broward dining for lunch, I looked around for the chicken options because I am a Muslim and here you either get chicken or pork if you want some sort of protein or a hamburger. So, when I saw they were serving something explicitly labeled as CHICKEN gumbo I was excited. I got served my food and started chowing down when I started to taste a weird flavor I looked down and realizing that flavor was the unlabeled pork sausage they had put in the gumbo along with the chicken. No where did it say there was pork in it, no disclaimer from the food staff serving it, and nothing on the menu. I obviously complained because eating pork is against my faith and I honestly felt disgusted. But it seemed they had no person of authority in the whole dining hall! I had to wait 10 minutes while the workers looked at each other not knowing what to do. I was eventually taken to a lady who told me I should have asked if there was pork in it and essentially put the blame on me! Oh Iā€™m sorry for not asking if there was pork in something explicitly labeled as a chicken dish. UF you should know you have a high population of Muslim/hindus who do not eat pork, so if youā€™re gonna conveniently not put an ingredient on the menu. Make sure itā€™s not pork. Then I come back today, and now suddenly they have all these dietary restrictions signs up. One said ā€œyou spoke, we listened, black bean burgers and halal chicken are available upon request.ā€ FINALLY! Florida youā€™re doing something right. So I ask the man serving if I can get some halal chicken, and he flat out said ā€œno we donā€™t have chicken.ā€ What do you mean you donā€™t have chicken? Itā€™s right there on the sign? Is that all the response I get? Just a flat out no? Wow Florida you really did your thing to be inclusive this time, good job.

Discussion The boss is kinda boring compared to Croesus

It's really one note and not much complexity. Even croe feels like it has a lot more depth to it than this. Like a proper boss.

I really hate scalable content because to make it work for solo you have to get rid of interactive/cooperation mechanics. Can the game not have proper group bosses anymore?

And yes Croesus can be soloed but with added difficulty. bringing other people matters unlike at this new boss. It dosnt play any differently to bring someone else. It dosnt matter to be in a group.

I like that they added quest reqs back though. And it's got great eye candy/ visuals/lore and story behind it.

Society/Culture The government should be able to execute deserters during wartime

I've seen the sentiment repeated many times of how "The government shouldn't be able to execute people, they aren't infallible! The cost is too great!".

The argument has merit for sure, but in certain cases there should be exceptions. Case in point: wartime. If there is an ongoing war that a country is engaged in, it conscripts people and they desert, those people need to be executed.

Think about it like this:

Ok, let's say Tom is sent to the front lines and he doesn't want to die in the war, so he tries to desert and run away. Tom is caught in the attempt, or after deserting. What should we do with him?

He could be let go: this shows that there is no consequence for desertion and lots of people are likely to do it. Detrimental to the war effort and dangerous.

He could be imprisoned: he would still get away from the front lines this way, and his chances of dying are reduced dramatically. People who don't want to die likely to desert. Again, detrimental to the war effort and dangerous.

He could be executed: this shows that deserting is futile, as as soon as you are caught you will die. Of course, some still might desert in the hopes of not being caught, but all other measures would raise desertion risk among the troops. This is the only one that could potentially lower it.

Considering these is no other viable choice, deserters must be executed. Make it public and desertion risk lowers even more.

Maybe there is something I'm not seeing here, but to me it doesn't make sense to do anything other than execute here.

Edit: there seems to be a lot of confusion here. I'm talking specifically about a defensive war, where a country is being attacked. My bad for not listing it anywhere.

Step out of the tube and get back on!! Please!

Londoners - I just cannot grasp why people do not step out of the tube momentarily to let people off?

Just came off of a crowded tube this morning and when I had to get off two people just stood in the middle blocking the way. Those needing to exit struggled to get out and the people in the doorway ended up getting shoved - no one benefits in this situation!

If youā€™re in the doorway please step out of the tube to the side to let people out, and then get back on. Or at minimum step to the side in the doorway. Or someone please explain why they donā€™t!?

PVP My Take on patch .15 as a near 10,000 hour player [discussion]

First my credentials: I have played this game religiously since customs and factory were the only 2 maps. Currently I am sitting at 9800 hours across my hardcore and main account. I have achieved kappa every single wipe since it's release (often multiple times per wipe) speed ran kappa and achieved it 4 days after account creation, completed every light keeper quest, and nearly have every achievement you can get. I know the game way more than most people.

Escape from Tarkov is built around the fact that it's not easy. It was made PURPOSEFULLY to not hold your hand while you are playing, but rather to try and force you down. This is it's niche. This singular fact about the game is what makes it stand out from other fps games, extraction shooter, and looter shooters. It's NOT an easy game. This will be important to remember later.

Patch 0.15 is the worst wipe yet. I say this after just obtaining the kappa container and now working my way through light keepers tasks for the 2nd time. And it not because of audio, or because of cheaters, it's because they are consistently making The game too easy. Tarkov is losing it's niche of being extremely hardcore and the player numbers show it. Since January of 2024 tarkov has been steadily losing it's player base, even with a wipe in that time.

Arena transfers are large component in this. And before you flame me below, no it's not the money it gives, and even the exp isn't THAT big of a deal. It's the amount of GP coins you get for free paired with lega medals. Hear me out.

Money: if you have EOD you can transfer 1.5 million rubels per day. This is not a big deal. Any player can avoid players and mindlessly loot to make that in a raid or 2. It's balanced and I feel it's a positive change for the game for people who would rather not scav run.

Exp: The EXP is overtuned but ultimately not that bad. Your exp doesn't really do anything, as you need the trader rep to unlock higher teir traders so your forced to quest anyways. Getting to level 15 is way faster now and can be achieved in a few hours if you grind it. It's too fast but ultimately not that impactful.

GP Coins: These things are murdering the economy. For the average player I'd be willing to bet you think these are just a nice boost from arena... Oh boy are you wrong. As a die hard tarkov player these things are broken as all hell. Yesterday I did my weekly, and all 3 daily tasks on arena. I received OVER 500 GP coins from these quests. I have ref level 4 at this point. From these 4 quests that took me less than 2 hours to complete, I could buy 10s of millions of rubels worth of gear completely for free. Every single day I am buying AT LEAST 10 aacpc rigs (all level 5 plates) and a GPU, 140 rounds of m80, and more. EVERY DAY. I now have absolutely zero risk of dying as gear is worth LITERALLY nothing to me. This removes the hardcore aspect from the game, and inturn making the competing games more inviting to me and others as well. (As the player numbers show).

In patch .14 class 5 armor wasn't super hard to get but it was not free. Now my BUDGET gear is class 5 and everything else is class 6. It's. Too. Easy. To. Get. Gear. Now. The risk is no longer there. The lows aren't as low and in turn the highs are not as high. Killing someone that's meta gear doesn't even feel that good anymore cause meta gear has become standard. Everyone has free UNLIMITED access to it if you play 3 to 4 hours of arena per week. That's not what this game is about. And it will kill the game if it's allowed to continue. Let tarkov stick to it's niche. It's hard, and in turn it's rewarding.

I understand it's difficult for new players to compete with the 2000+ hour people. Us 2000+ hour group having unlimited access to gear and the standard player having a few kits of it is not making it any easier for you. I assure you.

Let me know if you think I'm wrong, I want an open discussion. Thank you.

Tl:Dr: Tarkov was ment to be hard, GP coins make it too easy to get gear, allow the game to stick to it's niche or it will die.

Discussion As a new LoTR fan, RoP isnā€™t that much worse than the LoTR movies

First of all, this is about comparing the films to the series, not the original source material.

Iā€™ve just seen a lot of negativity towards the latest few episodes of this show and I donā€™t really understand it, especially given how much people seem to love the films.

Per background, Iā€™m a new LoTR fan. I read the Hobbit in school as required reading but never got to the LoTR. I missed the movies when they first came out. This show has ignited my interest in Tolkien and I just binge watched the LoTR films.

Iā€™ve seen a lot of dislike towards this show, which some is warranted especially for season 1. But thereā€™s some that isnā€™t, especially since the films are held in such high regard. For example, people complaining how the elves didnā€™t know about the horde of orcs outside their city. Itā€™s the same situation as how was the army of men missed all the oliphants (elephant?) when charging the orcs in RotK. This content is supposed to fantastical and fun. If you can forgive the films for their poor writing, you can forgive this series and enjoy it for what it is. Sure the show is not as engaging as the films but itā€™s not significantly worse and only getting better imo

On the positive side, Iā€™ve ordered the LoTR box set and about to fully jump into this world.

Anime & Manga Iā€™m sick and tired of people saying that Deku never get to be ā€œthe greatest hero, because he did. (My Hero Academia)

He defeated All For One, once and for all, and saved the world from destruction from the hands of Shiragaki. Isnā€™t that enough to be called ā€œthe greatest heroā€?

He might have taken a rather roundabout way to do it but in the end he succeeded. Not only that, without him there is no one on the scene that actually had a chance to stop Shiragaki. Bakugo, Jeanist, Endeavor, Hawk, they would only be killed by the full-powered Shiragaki. And he would go on to destroy the world which he always intended to do. (Or at least Japan, maybe the world heroes and armies could eventually stop him but Japan is definitely doomed.)

So what if he resigned and become a teacher later in life? That does not erase his accomplishments. If Tony Stark returned from Endgame and spent the rest of his life teaching at Caltech, would it mean heā€™s not the greatest hero?

So what if he never gets to top the Hero Chart? The narrative said ā€œgreatest heroā€ and not ā€œNo.1 hero in hero popularity chartā€.

Deku did it. And I would never say otherwise. End rant.
